HOW WE COMPARE

The numbers behind your next move.

Start with a free estimate from your usage and bill total. Membership adds provider details, a closer bill review and support with an approved change.

Your free quick check

Enter your postcode, service type, bill total and usage for the same period. Revy estimates the cost of that usage under supported published offers and shows potential savings against the amount you enter. Provider identities stay hidden until you join.

These are preliminary estimates. A bill total can include previous balances, credits or other adjustments. Your actual tariff, address, meter and the offer conditions need confirmation before a provider change. No payment or retailer application is created by running the check.

Published plans, recorded sources

The free quick check searches up to 14 registered retailer feeds and reviews up to 40 plan details. Its supported sources are AGL, Origin Energy, EnergyAustralia, Red Energy, Powershop, Momentum Energy, 1st Energy, Alinta Energy, Dodo Power & Gas, ENGIE, GloBird Energy, Lumo Energy, Tango Energy, CovaU. Availability varies by postcode, fuel and tariff. A focused member comparison can select up to three retailers and inspect up to 10 plan details, with the source dates recorded.

Configured residential coverage includes the ACT, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria. Availability depends on the address, distributor, meter, tariff and retailer conditions. These are data sources, not retailer partnerships. Western Australia and the Northern Territory need a separate supported source.

Small-business electricity receives dedicated staff review. Residential offers are not treated as eligible business plans. Read about the AER’s public energy-plan data.

Broadband and mobile prices

Supported sources currently include SpinTel broadband and mobile plans, and ALDI Mobile prepaid plans. These are public plan sources, not a comparison of every provider or a claim of a commercial partnership. Available prices are refreshed from the provider and its published fee information. Unverified sources are excluded.

Results rank matching plans by first-year cost. We include listed upfront charges, applicable introductory discounts and required modem costs. A 30-day recharge is treated as a 30-day service, not a calendar month. Remaining handset payments and provider eligibility can affect a change. Confirm the final terms and availability with the provider.

Insurance checks

Insurance checks record the premium and cover details you enter. Revy does not generate a replacement premium from your current cost. A personal quote from an insurer or authorised provider is needed before comparing a new price.

Confirmed bill reviews

For the detailed member comparison, we use confirmed supply days, rates and usage: electricity in kWh and mains gas in MJ. The amount payable can include old balances, payments and adjustments, so the comparison works from the underlying energy charges.

The saved member calculation prices the same usage and period under the alternative offer. Displayed estimates include GST. A short bill remains a bill-period result unless there is a supported annual calculation with its evidence and assumptions recorded. We do not present an incomplete short-period calculation as a completed annual saving.

Complex costs receive a closer look

The current automatic calculation supports single-rate usage without solar exports, controlled-load usage or demand charges. Time-of-use, demand, wholesale, seasonal, stepped usage and discount arrangements need staff review or a separate supported calculation.

Unconfirmed fees, meter costs, incentives and gas units are flagged. Staff check the conditions and amounts before confirming complete cost and eligibility. Unknown charges are not silently treated as zero.

The subscription is included in net value

When Revy shows a net financial benefit, it deducts the applicable subscription allowance once for the account, together with relevant switching costs not already counted. The price and billing option you selected determine that allowance. Electricity and gas totals are combined only when the comparison periods can be aligned.

The savings guarantee assesses the first eligible comparison’s annualised provider-charge saving against the threshold recorded at purchase. This is separate from a claim about a completed, verified saving. Read the guarantee terms.

You approve the next step

Source dates, assumptions and eligibility matter. If information changes or a source is unavailable, the record is flagged for attention. Before a supported application, you see the specific offer and approve its terms and authority. We then record the actual submission and provider responses.
